Home Build Journey: Framing Part 1

Home Build Journey: Framing Part 1

Back at it this week to take you through the second post of our home build journey, framing. If you missed last weeks post you can find it here. I am breaking this up in a couple different posts to show before roof trusses go up because the difference is drastic. So here we go.

Framing Basement Walls

This is by far the most rewarding phase so far in the building process because you get to see it all come together and the rooms and how things actually are going to flow in real life. I was surprised at how quick this process went as far as seeing progress goes. It did slow down when they got into more details and these guys worked pretty hard and we had decent weather for the most part during this time.

They first framed up the basement rooms and the kids were SO excited to see their rooms. The kids put in a request for no walls or at least a doorway so they can just slip in and out of each others rooms. I don’t know if they fully understand that the doors to go in and out of their rooms are LITERALLY right next to each other. I think the concept of going through the wall is more appealing.

Here is some kid spam of them running through the basement!

Framing of Main Level and Loft

They moved to the main level starting with the garage and moving their way across. You will notice that we are a big fan of windows!

There were other things that occurred during this framing phase which were not quite photo worthy. We had septic, water, and electric hook ups all taken care of.
