Hello, I am just popping in with a quick post to help you with your knitting needle organization. This DIY hack is perfect if you still use straight knitting needles like me but want to keep them visible AND organized.
When organizing my craft space I had 2 different knitting needle cases which organized my needles perfectly. The only downside was they weren’t visible to me and the cases didn’t fit all that well in my drawer taking up extra space.
Googling knitting needle organization, I came across some already made coils to hold your knitting needles together and while they weren’t over the top pricey when you multiply it by the number of knitting needle sets you have the price wasn’t very appealing.
So I took it upon myself to do a little DIY using hair tie coils and scissors. So I am breaking it down for you in 3 simple steps. Cut, wrap, cut.
Knitting Needle Organization
Supplies
- Hair Tie Coils
- Scissors
Here you can see a little instagram reel on how to complete this but scroll on down for the written step by step instructions.
Step 1
Cut your hair tie coil to create one long piece.
Step 2
Situating your needles with opposite ends together start wrapping your coil around your needles. I like to wrap mine 4 to 5 times.
Step 3
Once you have finished wrapping cut off the excess coil. ALL DONE!
Now you can repeat this process for any remaining needles you have left. The bigger the needles the more the coil it will take so make sure you account for that when purchasing your supplies.
