Here I am again…after a few months….to try this again. You guys I swear I want to blog as a regular occurrence but I really suck ass at making it a habit. But I am going to keep trying….
A bit of an update since November.
Holidays, Birthdays, and more birthdays. So as with everybody the holidays took over everything. Between church activities, school activities, and 4 birthdays that feel back to back it was a busy time of year but I loved it. I am happy/sad that it is over but here we are on to a new year and new things.
This is the beginning of my first full year of being a stay at home mom. I left my corporate job in June of 2017 to be able to stay home with my babies and a few other things came into play where the time was right. So here I am feeling my way through all the emotions of not bringing home a paycheck (and benefits) and I’ll admit it was much harder to get adjusted to than I thought. I am not sure if I am adjusted still but the feelings of “not doing enough” and having “guilt” of things not getting done as you anticipated at home are real and I know it bothers me more than anyone as I still feel I need to justify my staying home with having a clean house and everything in order. I put it in my head that it bothers my husband too but I know it doesn’t it is all in my head…..whack job right here. Or as most guys would say a “typical woman” (ha ha).
I have tried to get a routine going to help me feel more organized as that is what I liked about work is that I had a schedule of what meetings are when and what needs to get done in between. To give you a glimpse into my “routine” that I have tried to get myself in here is what my typical week looks like:
Mondays and Fridays
7:00am Everyone should be awake and we have 1 hour to get clean, eat breakfast, and off to school.
8:00am Husband drops son off at school on his way to the farm
8:00-10:00am Desk work, pay bills, housework
10:00am Baby goes down for a nap and I go workout in my garage while my other daughter goes with me or I get her set up with snacks and a cartoon.
1:00-3:00pm Housework, and baby goes down around 2:15 for nap#2.
3:30pm – load up the girls to go pick up my son from school and we either head back home or out to the farm.
I try to shower before my husband gets home and before I start dinner but sometimes that just doesn’t happen and I shower after all the kids go to bed.
6:30pm Dinnertime and then do a quick clean up so that I can spend the rest of the time as “family” time.
7:30pm Baby goes to bed.
8:00-8:30pm Older kids start bedtime routine and lights out by 8:30 and then I finish picking up for the night before I relax or go take a shower.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
My older girl goes to school Tuesday-Thursday so in addition to the above on these days there are a couple more “stops”:
8:30am I drop daughter off at school
11:30am I Pick daughter up from school
So there you have it my somewhat established routine. In a later post I will share with you my cleaning schedule that I try to follow on a day to day basis to make sure I hit everything at least once a week. It has been helpful but I am still tweaking it as I find new things to clean as I go that get added to the list. I am most definitely a list maker otherwise I swear to you I have ADD….my husband calls it wandering.
Talk to you all again soon!
